With the success of the Nike Zoom Lebron V Yankees Edition, LeBron gave New York fans something to cheer about and possibly something to look forward to if he decides to pursue free agency and leaves the Cavaliers in favor of the Knicks or Nets. The last time LeBron visited New York he dropped 50 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists in the Zoom Lebron V Yankees colorway. Note the 3/5/2008 date on the inner heel of the sneakers. Yesterday, we Now it seems Nike is commemorating that performance with a Nike Zoom Lebron VI inspired by the New York Yankees colors of White and Midnight Navy, unfortnately for all you sneakerheads out there this year’s version is missing the infamous Yankees’ pinstripes. However an added feature to the shoe is Lebron’s stats from last year’s game and the date of the game on different pieces of the shoe.

Nick DePaula aka “Billy Hoyle” Senior Writer and performance review man for Sole collector got his hands on a advance pair. He really got up close shots of the shoe and wrote about them in his personal blog on the site. Here are the shots and go over to the blog to read about how the shoe performs and some background on it. Thanks Billy for the pictures at SoleCollector.com

The Nike Air Solo Flight Retro Sneakers have pooped up on the scene. When you see these shoes all you can think about is the scare of year 2000 coming in and Flightposite kicks. Ahhh…memories…memories. Back in 1999 and year 2000 we seen a gang of basketball shoes hit and these were not the most popular of the bunch.

Riding on the success of the Flightposite, the shoe was made to look similar to the flagship Nike Basketball sneaker, but did not come close in terms of performance. The synthetic upper was made to look like posite material; however, it was not form fitting nor as durable. The sole was a thinner rubber though shaped like the Flightposite’s counterpart and the plastic TPU on the side was well, just a piece of plastic with no functionality.

In order to legally carry the “Air” name, the shoe had an Encapsulated Air Unit (EAU) which was far from comparable to the Zoom Air that the Flightposite sported. All in all, it was a decent looking shoe for a sub $100 price, but the similar looks to the Flightposite were almost misleading to someone who didn’t know the difference between the two.

The retro version of the Nike Air Solo Flight will be available exclusively at Footlocker and Footaction stores later this year in three colors. No word on the third color yet, but expect silver/black as that was the most popular color back in the day. Photos thanks to Sneaker News.
